A draft programme is available on the PFC website at www.pfc.org.uk/congress. You will be given the final programme when you arrive at the Congress.
Disabled Access: The School of Law at Manchester Metropolitan University is a state of the art building, less than 1 year old. As such it has very good access, and many other facilities including hearing loops in the main lecture theatres. If you have specific needs that we can help with please let me know as soon as possible, so that arrangements can be made.
Disabled Parking: There is some very limited parking available, but this will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you require this parking please contact me immediately.
Travel and Parking: You are advised to travel to Manchester by public transport. Parking in the city is limited and expensive and not necessarily secure. The best car park for the conference is that on Booth Street, near the Manchester Aquatic Centre. A days parking costs around £5. The School of Law and Cambridge Halls are within a 3-minute walking distance of each other.
Travel By Air: Manchester International Airport is south of the city. There are regular trains from the airport at approximately 15-minute intervals. The train journey takes 20 minutes, and return ticket prices are from £6. A taxi from the airport will cost approximately £25. Details of Manchester Airport can be found at www.manairport.co.uk
Travel By Train: Manchester Piccadilly train station (with frequent and regular trains from London) is about 25 minutes walk from the School of Law, or a short taxi ride costing around £5. Manchester Oxford Road station (with frequent and regular trains from Manchester Piccadilly) is a 10-minute walk away. Details of train schedules and prices can be found at www.thetrainline.com
Travel By Bus: There are frequent bus services from all parts of Manchester, and other parts of the country. The School of Law is set back from Oxford Road which is the main road south from Manchester City centre, and there are many and frequent buses which pass by it. Details of buses and other travel within Manchester can be found at www.gmpte.com
Accommodation at Cambridge Halls: Cambridge Halls are situated on Cavendish Street. There is very limited on-street parking at Cambridge Halls. It is not advisable to travel by car. If you are staying at Cambridge Halls please arrive, if possible at the Halls during opening times between 8am and 8pm (it helps their staffing arrangements). If you are going to arrive outside of these times please ring the Manager Mr. J Kua on 0161 247 3489 (office hours) so arrangements can be made.
If you have any further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact me email: s.t.whittle@mmu.ac.uk
Please remember that the congress is being organised entirely by volunteers in order to keep costs as low as possible, and to provide access to as many people as possible. If you leave a message, we will get back in touch with you. Email is preferable for all correspondence if possible.
