PRESS RELEASE: "Legislative Program To Include Gender Recognition Bill"

Press for Change, the UK’s transsexual rights campaign, welcomes today’s confirmation that the Gender Recognition Bill is included in the government’s legislative program for the new session of parliament.
The Department of Constitutional Affairs (DCA) today emailed interested parties to say:
“Although it wasn’t included in the speech, the Gender Recognition Bill is included in the Government’s legislative programme and it is still the intention to introduce the Bill as soon as possible in the new session.”
Press For Change believes that the bill will be introduced “very soon”.
Claire McNab, vice-president of Press For Change said today:
“Transsexual people have waited 33 years for this bill. We are delighted that parliament is about to start the debate, and hope that it will soon be passed into law”.
