trAnsGENDER AGENDA
for the end of the millennium

Exeter College, Oxford University, 18th - 20th September 1998

Dear Delegate,

Exeter College is situated on Turl Street (approached from either Broad St or High St), which is a 15 minute walk from Oxford Train Station, 10 minutes from the bus station, or a (highly recomended) short cab ride costing around UKP3, from the train station.

If you would like a map of the city, Oxford University offers a very clear and useful map of the city centre, showing all the colleges and transport facilities. The University’s computer lab also keeps a handy index of other on-line maps of Oxford.

The College is expecting delegates to arrive from 4pm on Friday 18th September, however if you are travelling from overseas you are welcome to arrive at the college from 10am, as your rooms will be ready. When arriving at the college, please go to the main entrance at Turl St. If the door is closed please ring the bell. If you are going to arrive later than 8.30pm on the Friday evening please let the college steward, Pat Atkinson, know on 01865 279653. Please give the porter inside your name and state that you are attending the III International Congress on Sex and Gender. The porter will direct you to registration.

Registration times will be:

Friday 18th September 2pm to 8pm
Saturday 19th September 8am to 10.30am
Sunday 20th September 8.30am to 10.30am

DO NOT arrive outside of these times. If you do, you may find yourself considerably inconvenienced.

You will be given keys to your room on arrival or at registration. [If you have booked bed and breakfast for previous nights at the college, through us, please contact the college steward, Pat Atkinson on 01865 279653 if you are going to arrive outside the hours of 11am to 7pm].

I have included below details of as many relevant rail services as possible. PLEASE NOTE you CANNOT PARK at the college. If you do travel by car you will have to use the city’s park and ride services, they are expensive and security can not be guaranteed by the college or the conference organisers.

Day Delegates: If you are a day delegate for either the Saturday or Sunday, then registration will be possible between 8am and 10.30am on each of those days.

Residential Delegates: There will be cold buffet meal available for delegates between 6.30pm and 9pm on the Friday evening. You will find tea and coffee making facilities in your rooms, and I have asked the college if they can. to make available a snack service during the day on Friday. However there are many, many delightful cafes a very short walk from the college so nobody should starve.

TRAVEL: We recommend you travel to Oxford by train. These are the details for FRIDAY’S Trains. If you require any further details please ring the national Rail Enquiry Service on +44 (0) 345 484950.
