2 - 4 May 2008

The Steering Committee of Transgender Europe and the Transgender Network Berlin (TGNB) are most happy to announce that the

Second Transgender Council

Make human rights work

will take place from May 2nd – 4th in Berlin, Germany.

Make human rights work

The only council, organised by and for transgender people of all of Europe, strives to continue the success−story of the 1st transgender council in Vienna 2005: More than 200 transgender activists from all over Europe are invited to participate this year.

The program will consist of plenary sessions, workshops, get together, a party, an art exhibition and much more. One of the highlights will be the first presentation to a wider public of the findings of the study on the living situation of trans* people in the European Union, which was conducted by ILGA, Press for Change and Transgender Europe in 2007.

Moreover there will be a debate about the aims and concept of TransGender Europe, the most comprehensive European-wide network of trans* organizations and individuals, that was found only one year ago as a result of the first council in Vienna.

We will formulate our demands and scrutinize together with politicians of the European parliament the human rights situation of trans* people.

A core piece of the council is the workshop block on capacity building, where that there will be plenty of opportunities to obtain skills for daily trans* activism, exchange best practices, start new and renew older contacts and networks.

Last but not least, the local trans* scene and allies are eager to show its guests the fresh and exciting night life with a big party and an art exhibition.
