* Delusions of Gender

Book review: "Gender Outlaw: On Men, Women and the Rest of Us", by Kate Bornstein. Bornstein suggests that "culture may not simply be creating roles for naturally-gendered people, the culture may in fact be creating the gendered people. In other words, the culture may be creating gender."

* Struggling with Gender

Book review: "S/he", by Minnie Bruce Pratt.
"S/he" is a memoir of an American lesbian feminist, recounting her own journey through the shifting concepts of gender, sexuality and feminism.

* Transsexualism, medicine and law

Council of Europe Publishing, 1995. £ POA paperback ISBN 92-871-2805-7

This very useful book documents the proceedings of the Council of Europe’s 23rd Colloquy on European Law, which convened at the Free University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) 14-16th April, 1993. Every paper that was presented is reproduced in full and the appendices include copies of the statutes enacted by all of the European nations up to that time. Read this and then let somebody try to tell you that there is a debate about the essential nature of Gender Identity. We don’t have a hot link for ordering this publication, but you can try Dillons as above (email enquiries@dillons.co.uk).. or possibly Access Bookserve in the US (email bookserv@nashville.net.
