Almost certainly the greatest enemy of the world’s transgendered population for decades has been overwhelming ignorance.

.. Ignorance that you’re not the only person to feel as you do … not knowing that there are people who do understand … that there is both a medical and political dimension to being transgendered.

Armed with that knowledge, however, the world becomes a very different place. Self awareness takes the place of guilt. Isolation becomes community. Obstruction is illuminated as malpractice. Limitation gives way to opportunity.

The Press for Change campaign isn’t simply about educating others to understand and respect transgendered people’s lives, but about educating transgendered people themselves, so they need no longer be defined or limited by the ignorance and folklore.

So use this section just like any other library. As a place to feed and stimulate the imagination. A place open to all minds, except those which are permanently and irrevocably closed already.
